I had a brief moment of clarity the other day amidst the hustle and bustle of the Christmas Season.
Not only can I not do it all, I don't want to!
It doesn't matter if I don't have every Christmas decoration I own out in perfect display...it's okay if the family room floor is full of Legos...nobody's going to know if that one particular drawer in the kitchen is almost overflowing.
I am going to savor snuggling on the couch and reading Door in the Wall with my youngest.
I am going to find joy in listening to my oldest play his latest song on the guitar.
I am going to relish quiet time sipping mulled wine by the tree with my husband.
I am going to rejoice in the Glory and the Grace that is Christmas.

Amen Sister! I started cutting back a couple years ago and I'm happy I did. Enjoy the season:@)
Good for u! You just need to add one more thing...."enjoying a drink with my friends/neighbors" :)
Enjoy the holidays!!
So good to see you pop up again my friend! - I have no choice but to scale back this year because family matters have me back and forth between Portland every other week...I will be making up for it next year most likely, haha! xoxo
Good for you!! When you have a family at home - spending time and enjoying them is THE most important. There will be years enough to 'do' .... now is the time to 'be!'
I know. ALL my decorations are out. But I no longer have little ones living at home. Now I enjoy my memories as I unpack and display treasures from their childhood. They will enjoy seeing them as well.
You have chosen wisely.
I just found Ashton's milk carton nativity scene and baby Jesus and the star are missing! I love this project and this R.'s is beautiful!
Hi! So great to see you back. I have missed your posts! I love the little homemade nativity...it is so sweet. For some reason, I haven't brought all of my Christmas decor yet...I did my tree..and actually we went and bought a significantly smaller, slimmer, shorter tree this year, intentionally! I am rather enjoying it. I've also been slowly working on decorating my mantle. Anyhow, besides that, I have been trying to "be in the moment". I'm realizing it is not as easy as one would think. My mind keeps wandering and I am always thinking about doing other things, rather than focusing and being present in the moment of what I am doing. I am going to continue to try though. It mind sound funny or silly, but I would guess maybe a lot of people tend to do that...like..what's the next thing..we get ahead of ourselves. So, I am seeing that I am actually going to have to "practice" being present in the moment. Looks like you are on the right track..keep enjoying the little things about Christmas and winter and have fun..well, maybe not even fun...have peace, and happiness and joy.
Merry Christmas!
